The Trustees are proposing separate oyster reef and salt marsh habitat creation projects to compensate for the natural resource injury. The oyster reef project, to be carried out by South Carolina DNR, proposes to create 3.2 acres of oyster reef habitat at two sites in the Harbor River, approximately 3 miles south of the Port Royal VCC site. The salt marsh creation project, to be carried out by NOAA, proposes to restore 17 acres of salt marsh on Edisto Island, SC through hydrologic restoration.
