On October 21, NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center, a division of the National Weather Service, will announce the U.S. temperature and precipitation outlook for winter, extending from December 2021 through February 2022. During a virtual webinar, NOAA forecasters will also discuss the ongoing drought in the western U.S. and announce the seasonal Drought Outlook for the season ahead.
NOAA produces seasonal outlooks to help the nation prepare for weather and climate that is likely to come during the next few months, to minimize negative impacts on lives and livelihoods. Empowering people with the information they need to take action to protect themselves is key to NOAA’s effort to build a Weather-Ready Nation.
