On Thursday, August 10, scientists will discuss key findings from a peer-reviewed State of the Climate report that examines temperature, precipitation and weather events experienced around the world in 2016. The study will be published in a special edition of the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society.
This 27th annual check-up for the planet is based on contributions from more than 450 scientists representing over 60 countries around the world. It provides a detailed update on global climate indicators, notable weather events and other data collected from locations on land, water, ice, and in space. Some of the climate indicators include greenhouse gases; temperature; precipitation; sea level; sea ice extent; glacier mass; snow cover and tropical cyclones.
