Atmospheric scientists, fisheries biologists and physical scientists receive career awards
Eight NOAA scientists today were awarded the prestigious Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) for pioneering research on the Earth’s atmosphere, weather, our ocean, coasts, fisheries and marine ecosystems.

NOAA GLERL scientist Eric Anderson deploys a drifter buoy from the back of a research vessel in the Straits of Mackinac. The buoy will move with the currents, reporting its location every hour via satellite. Eric and his NOAA Research colleagues Andrew Hoell, Andrew Rollins, Brian C. McDonald and Jeffrey Snyder are recipients of the 2019 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE). (Image credit: NOAA Research)
