Climate experts from NOAA and NASA will discuss the release of new data on 2017 global temperatures and the most important climate trends of the year during a media teleconference at 11:00 a.m. EST on Thursday, Jan. 18.

NOAA and NASA are two keepers of the world's temperature data and independently produce a record of Earth's surface temperatures, as well as changes based on historical observations over ocean and land. Consistency between the two independent analyses, and analyses produced by other countries, increases confidence in the accuracy of such data, the assessment of the data, and resulting conclusions. These analyses provide government and business leaders with critical decision-making information.
The NOAA and NASA 2017 global temperature analyses will be issued 30 minutes before the start of the teleconference (NOAA report offsite link, NASA release offsite link).
