On September 23, NOAA’s National Weather Service will make a significant upgrade to the Global Ensemble Forecast System (GEFS) to expand its capabilities and improve weather forecasting.
GEFS is used by meteorologists at the National Weather Service for medium-range weather forecasts and for providing guidance during high-impact weather events including hurricanes, blizzards, and extreme heat and cold.
The Director of the National Weather Service and experts from NOAA’s Environmental Modeling Center will be available to discuss this scientific upgrade and the boost it will provide to NWS weather forecasting capabilities.
