Information in the press release which was based on earlier estimates has been updated. NOAA's award for the new high performance computer was $99.3 million and the high performance computer will add 30 petaflops of computing capacity to the current system.

NOAA’s newest high performance computer Hera, is used for research to advance weather, climate and ecosystem prediction. In 2020, it was named number 88 among the top 500 high performance computers in the world based on computing capacity, according to Top500.org. (Image credit: NOAA)
