On Thursday, Oct. 20, NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center, a division of the National Weather Service, will announce the U.S. temperature and precipitation outlook for winter — December 2022 through February 2023 — during a media teleconference. NOAA experts will also discuss the ongoing drought across the U.S. and announce the climate factors influencing the drought outlook for the winter season ahead.
NOAA produces seasonal outlooks to help the nation prepare for weather and climate patterns that are likely during the next few months, to minimize negative impacts on lives and livelihoods. Empowering people with the information they need to take action to protect themselves is key to NOAA’s effort to build a Weather-Ready Nation.
