President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act will support NOAA’s efforts to work with tribal nations in the West with drought challenges and opportunities

In November 2020, Rosebud Economic Development Corporation, with support from World Wildlife Fund and Rosebud Tribal Land Enterprise announced the inaugural transfer and release of 100 plains bison (buffalo) from the National Park Service to the Wolakota Buffalo Range on the land of the Sicangu Lakota Oyate, commonly known as the Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Today, the 28,000 acre Wolakota Buffalo Range is home to 1,000 buffalo and is the largest Native-owned bison herd in the world, helping support the regeneration of the land, people and economy of the Sicangu Lakota Oyate.
