On Tuesday, August 2, scientists from the United States will announce key findings from a peer-reviewed State of the Climate report that examines temperature, precipitation and weather events experienced around the world in 2015. The study will be published in a special edition of the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society.
The State of the Climate in 2015 report, compiled by 460 scientists from 62 countries around the world, provides a detailed update on global climate indicators, notable weather events and other data collected by environmental monitoring stations and instruments on land, water, ice, and in space. Some of the climate indicators include greenhouse gases; temperatures throughout the atmosphere, ocean, and land; precipitation; sea level; ocean salinity; sea ice extent; glacier mass; and snow cover.

- Gregory C. Johnson, Ph.D., oceanographer and ocean chapter editor at NOAA's Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory
- Jackie Richter-Menge, Ph.D., Arctic chapter editor and research civil engineer at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory
In addition, Deke Arndt, chief of the climate monitoring branch at NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information will be on the call to answer questions about the report.
