Federal, state and local officials will cut the ribbon on the new NOAA Aircraft Operations Center facility at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport in Lakeland, Fla., on Fri., June 2. The brand-new facility, including its 58,000-square-foot hangar, will serve as the main base for NOAA’s fleet of nine specialized environmental data-gathering aircraft, including the agency’s “hurricane hunter” planes.
